How ULOC Community Network serves everyone facing hunger
Over one million people in the Tampa Bay Area are at risk of experiencing hunger. Of those who are experiencing hunger, 28% were newly food insecure in 2020. But 72% were already struggling to meet their needs before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Obviously, it’s going to take time for our country to bounce back from the effects of the pandemic. In the meantime, we cannot allow our neighbors to go hungry. We are diligently working to end the physical and emotional hunger of families in a dignified manner.
Our comprehensive approach not only alleviates hunger with nutritional foods, but also provides support services such as homeless outreach. And our goal is achieved through four hunger relief initiatives.

Our Initiatives
Large-Scale Food Distributions
We’re addressing the increased need for food assistance across the Tampa Bay Area. Our large-scale drive-through distributes food to those in need. And each distribution serves up to 1,400 households. If you register to attend, you’ll receive up to 50 pounds of nutritious food. This includes produce, shelf-stable items, and frozen meat protein.
Mobile Food Pantries
The mobile food pantry is one of our most impactful initiatives. We’re solving hunger in Tampa Bay by getting additional grocery items into the hands of people who need them. Although our trucks hold lots of free food, we’re at each location for a specific amount of time. So, ensure you’re at the location early to choose the items you want.
Healthcare Partnerships
To begin with, food security and access to food is a social determinant of health for Tampa Bay residents. With this in mind, we’ve developed partnerships with healthcare providers to improve the health of our community. By integrating nutrition education into healthcare, we can increase food access to those who need it most.
Community and Agency Partners
We’ve partnered with local nonprofit food pantries, soup kitchens, and hunger relief programs throughout the county. Not only do we deliver food to these organizations, but we also coordinate pick ups. Additionally, we ensure food safety and compliance standards are met to protect people facing hunger.
